Fremont Cannon Returns To Reno

After 5 years without our cannon, UNR finally brings the Fremont cannon home Saturday night with a 22-14 victory over the Running Rebels.
"For over 30 years Nevada has had a north vs. south civil war in college football. This is not a friendly rivalry as fans from both schools have become verbally and physically violent over the state prize, an exact replica of the historical mountain howitzer cannon that Captain John C. Fremont towed on his expedition of the West from 1843 to 1844. The replica was originally appraised at over $10,000 in 1969."

Now that it is home where it belongs, let's hope it stays here for awhile.

With their first failed attempt many years ago in corrupting the finest Football team in the league, in this reporters opinion. It appears that a certain franchise has succeeded in taking a No.2 ranked team down to virtually nothing with drugs and Steroids. It has been a mystery all year how a great Raider team of 2002 could fall so quickly. Now we know! Say NO to drugs! Say NO to bringing in players from certain teams who we will not mention.

Suspension?!?

With their season pretty much finished, at least four Oakland Raiders starters have gone too far to try to get it back. As a result, for the first time in sports history, professional athletes are now facing suspension after testing positive for the controversial steroid tetrahydrogestrinone, or THG. The players are former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dana Stubblefield, former All-Pro center Barrett Robbins, defensive tackle Chris Cooper, and former Pro Bowl linebacker Bill Romanowski. “Romo” is a veteran in the league and has been involved in controversial substance scandals in the past – both during his tenures in Denver and San Francisco. Since becoming a Raider, however, Romanowski has visually bulked up quite a bit. Though he denies ever engaging in any steroid use whatsoever, when asked by a member of our crack team of reporters why he’s gotten so big, with a loud snort and two clenched fists, Romo replied, “Uh….I’m just big boned. What’s the matter, don’t you like my man-boobs?!?” That’s quite alright, Romo. Stay calm and relax. However, if you are using, just remember that former Raiders John Matuszak and Lyle Alzado are holding a seat for you. At 3 and 7 – how many more “chemically altered” victories can the Raiders squeeze out this season?

A Woman In The NFL?

Who says women can't play in the NFL? In a bold move this week, Raiders owner Al Davis signs the first woman EVER to play in the NFL. Janet Hastings - or "The Hammer" as she prefers to be called - will wear the Silver & Black this week when the Raiders face the New York Jets. When asked why he would sign a woman to the team, Al Davis replied, " We were looking for someone who could fill Romo's position - since he's been placed on IR. When I saw 'The Hammer', I had to have her!" Though she does not have any previous football experience, The Hammer has practiced this week and has definitely knocked a few heads loose. In her words, "I like hitting stuff." Chad Pennington - beware. The Raiders are hungry for a victory and God only knows what "The Hammer" will do if she gets her hands on you!

- Raiders QB Rick Mirer sets to throw a pass. Starting QB Rich Gannon can be seen on the sidelines behind Mirer with the same problem he's had all season.

In their 23-13 losing effort against the Detroit Lions, the Raiders have sunken to a new low. Our crack team of reporters was on the sidelines to capture the Raider defeat - not to mention capturing Rich Gannon in one of his more prolific poses all season. Raider fans around the country can be heard saying, "Stop the insanity!!! There's always next year, ladies!!!!

IMPLANT EXPLODES!!

Not the smartest Philly in the stable, this young Bronco Cheerleader underwent a self adjusting breast implant that went awry following the Broncos 26-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Although it is still not clear what events led up to the explosion, or why anyone would undergoe such a ridiculous procedure. We do know that there were no injurys. We did get one comment form Tight End Shannon Sharpe who witnessed the event. "Dunno Man, Da Bitch Jus Sploded" We will continue our story when we know more!

Bronco's Go Hollyweird!

With the final touches complete in the continuing saga of Michael Jacksons ongoing surgerys, Mikey is finally ready to come out of the closet with both his personal and professional lives. "You can call me Michelle now" says, the famous popstar. When asked why Michael....excuse me! Michelle would give up his career in music. Michelle simply stated " I have always wanted to be a cheerleader and when the Raiders turned me down the Broncos were right there to gobble me up!" Rumour has it that when Michelle demanded to team up with Elton John and dance to their new song "Dont let your son go down on me" the Raiders just wouldn't have it. Look for Michelle to debut for the Broncos this week when the Broncos play New England.

With his career as an actor pretty much in the crapper, Mr. T has taken on a new identity - Miss. T. - and is the newest Raiderette to adorn the sidelines of Oakland Colliseum. When asked about the beer and sausage stains on "his" uniform, Miss T. replied, "Don't gimme any yo jibba-jabba! I pitty da fool dat axks me bout dat shit!" Our crack team of reporters was not in any position to agitate "it" any further, so we'll leave things as they are.

EXTREME MAKEOVER!!

- Raider Girl Wendy Barmen - before and after her augmentation procedures

Thought their season is in serious need of some sort for “augmentation”, the Oakland Raiders organization has made leaps and bounds in other areas. One such area is with the Raider Girls. We’ve learned that a number of the girls “may” have had a corrective surgery or two in the past, so we sent our crack team of reporters to investigate. Not unlike the Enquirer, we’ve learned that if we dig deep enough, we, too, can uncover dirt on anyone. We’ve posted along with this story a picture of one of the Raider Girls who’s had (to say the least) a procedure or two. Raider Girl Wendy Barmen is seen here in her uniform – in both before and after her surgeries. Near as we can figure, she’s had the following: Dental work – both whitening and tooth replacement, nose and chin reductions, an unsightly mole removed from her nose, breast augmentation surgery, and electrolysis to remove unwanted facial hair. At 2 and 5, one can only hope the same transformation can take place with the Raiders efforts on the field for the remainder of this season.

- Denver & Oakland cheerleaders pose for new NFL swimsuit calendar -- November 2003

There are many notable rivalries in the NFL. Dallas and Philadelphia, Miami and New England, Chicago and Green Bay, and the list goes on and on. In effort to enhance these rivalries, the NFL has launched it’s new 2003 swimsuit calendar – featuring cheerleaders from each team. During a month where noted rivals will meet, the date is highlighted and a cheerleader from both teams has posed in her finest swimwear. Our crack staff of reporters was able to obtain an advanced copy of the calendar and we’ve posted a sample of what you will find. We’ve learned the November girls are Barbi Owens from Denver and Chanukah Ndugu from Oakland. Our hat’s off to the NFL for producing such a fine publication.

Raider Girl Helga "You've Got to Be Kidding" Evans was recently ousted out of the new Raider Girl calendar by the Raiders organization. Not to be discouraged, she's taking matters (and 4 or 5 cheeseburgers) into her own hands. She's stepped it up a notch and has submitted her nude photos to both "Fat Hairy Girls" and "Outa My Way Or I'll Eat You" magazines. -Newest Raider Chad Owen

Newest Raider - Nose Guard Chad Owen With the Raider defense currently ranked 31st in the league, owner Al Davis announced the recent signing of defensive nose guard Chad Owen - former sumo wrestling champion. At 6'10", and over 500 pounds, two things are evident: First, he'll be a vital help at beefing up the Raiders pathetic run defense. Second, he's too damn big for league officials to enforce the standard uniform regulations. His photo with this story is how he'll dress for duty on the field. The only thing worse than lining up from across this massive addition will be the view the defensive backfield has as he lines up in his 3-point stance!!

Our crack cast of journalists was able to obtain this picture of offensive guard Mo Collins – usually donned in his “Silver and Black” jersey #79 – dressed up as what may be the most unique costume ever. Our hat is off to the Raiders. Hey, if they can’t win at football, maybe a first prize in a costume contest is in their immediate future. Go Raiders!!

Office Pool Battle

For the second week in a row, Wes has won the Office Pool and remains in first place just 3 games ahead of Pete.
